The series continues with Owen Bennett-Jones looking at al-Qaeda's hard power, reporting on al Qaeda's military capabilities in its chosen key battlegrounds: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

He speaks with soldiers, spies and scholars on both sides, including rare access inside Pakistan's secretive intelligence agency.

He also looks at the West and what the latest series of plots there say about al-Qaeda's military capabilities. He hears answers from senior British, European and American officials, and examines al Qaeda's own statements for clues.
