Jonathan Lethem's new book Chronic City has been described by critics as "stunning" and "brilliant".

On The Strand he discusses this story of an alternative reality Manhattan where a bizarre fog is engulfing Wall Street, a character is stranded abroad a space station and a tiger is prowling the streets.

Chronic City is his seventh novel and has been hailed as a love song to Manhattan. Mark Coles asks the author why he chose to set the book in New York.
