With increasing tensions and talk of renewed conflict between the South Sudansese government and its Khartoum counterpart, hope for peace is being pinned on elections now expected next year.

Nyambura Wambugu has been to the southern town of Torit to assess the state of readiness and gauge the mood of residents.
