The leaflet, called '12 Simple Steps to a Brighter Future", hopes to persuade us all that being greener is not as difficult as we might think. Despite the UK still being behind other European countries when it comes to reducing the effect of 21st century living on the environment, experts at the Trust say there is plenty we can do as individuals to make a difference. The twelve point plan recommends reducing the amount of rubbish we throw out by stopping the junk mail that comes through the letter box and composting more of our kitchen waste. There are also tips in saving energy, wildlife gardening, thinking about the products buy, reducing the number of journeys we make by car and how to use water more carefully. The leaflet has been inspired by the concerns people have about global warming and climate change, as well as worries about the food chain and how our way of life impacts on wildlife. The Trust hopes that the ideas in the new leaflet will spread further by simple word of mouth, although they also hope that others may be so inspired that they want to do more to support the Trust's campaign. Ideas include producing a community waste directory, pioneering a car-sharing scheme and even becoming a 'compost ambassador' (see here for more). The leaflet has received support from the county's district authorities along with Wiltshire County Council. | Download the cover of the leaflet here. | | Download the inside of the leaflet here. | Requires Adobe Acrobat.
