Actor, Presenter, Producer
Career: As an actor, 'Brookside',' Les Miserables'. As a presenter, HTV, S4C and BBC, including Tabw. Founder of SWS - Social, Welsh and Sexy Society. Big break: Don’t believe in the big break - it’s a myth! Every job is a break. The art is to keep working. Highlight: People would say 'Brookside' and 'Les Miserables' were the high-profile highlights, but I am also proud of producing my own one-man show and touring the country. SWS idea: I phoned 40 people, hired a room in the Groucho club and got people together. It was a way of raising the Welsh profile…and having a good time! Now we have 2,000 members with 5 patrons - Catherine Zeta Jones, Bryn Terfel, Colin Jackson, Sian Phillips and Bonnie Tyler. The idea is that anyone can join - if you’re not Welsh, but you want to be with Welsh people, you can join! There is no agenda, so no problem. Low: I sang at the London Palladium and forgot the words. I just made them up and the audience didn’t realise… Skills to work in TV: The guts to be yourself! Don't try to be 'a presenter', just be yourself. In this business, you need determination, bloody-mindedness, a thick skin and a sense of humour. Tips from the top: Don’t follow any other person - follow your instincts. Ignore those who pull you down and rise above criticism. And remember - do what you want to do, life’s not a dress rehearsal. Oh….and join SWS! |
