1988: The UK's best roadside food van

When The Sun newspaper invited the nation's truckers to nominate their favourite 'grub wagon' they received hundreds of replies. The newspaper enlisted BBC's Food and Drink programme to judge the shortlist, and after travelling across the country sampling hot food in laybys, the winners were announced as Mick and Peg. The couple were filmed cooking up a storm from their small caravan on Skipton Road near Harrogate in Yorkshire.
