1973: Open Door
Open Door was a series on BBC Two in the 1970s, produced by the BBC's Community Programme Unit (CPU).
The idea of the Community Programme Unit was conceived in 1972. The unit would offer technical help and a TV studio to community groups and individuals to enable them to make their own programmes, over which they had complete editorial control.
The first episode of Open Door aired on Monday 2 April, 1973.
