1986: Photographer Martin Parr on the art of making the ordinary iconic
English documentary photographer Martin Parr became famous throughout his lifetime for his iconic brightly coloured photographs of British life which elevated the mundane into works of art, and created a unique social history. In 1986 he took part in a project to document and archive life in Salford, and he spoke to the BBC about why capturing images in supermarkets and shops was as important as any other kind of photography.
