1982: Double time capsule discovered

In 1982 Nationwide visited an indoor market complex in Birmingham where a time capsule was removed by a bricklayer and opened by market traders working there. The bottle was originally discovered in 1972 when the old market was replaced with a new complex and contained papers dating back to 1895. New items from the 1970s were added and the bottle reburied where it remained for several years until being opened once again.

This clip from Nationwide was originally broadcast on 17 November 1982.
