1974: A day with the Yorkshire Dales mobile library
What do you do when your home is miles away from the nearest library? Wait for it to come to you of course. In 1984 The Book Programme travelled to North Yorkshire and hitched a ride with the Swaledale mobile library service, as it weaved its way around the rural villages of Reeth, Healaugh, Low Row and Gunnerside in the Yorkshire Dales. During the day villagers who climbed aboard were happy to chat about what books they were enjoying or not enjoying.
