A History of the World: Morcea still has her Jamican mother's British passport and talks about her own citizenship.
Morcea Walker
Morcea talks about the importance of her mother's British passport. As a child from Jamaica she was also named on her mother's passport as a British subject. So it was a shock when she applied for a passport in her own name to be told she would have to have a Jamaican passport, or fill in a lot of forms. This was because Jamaica had been granted independence. She chose to fill in the forms and subsequently received her own British passport. She believes the two old passports represent her family's heritage and that they are a significant mark of Britain's colonial history.
