The way you open your film is really important if you want people to engage and watch the film through to the end.

There are plenty of ways to open your film to catch peoples' attention. Editing strong images with gripping words can really pull people in to a story just like the intro to a good book. Midlands Today Reporter, Andy Newman shows us how he uses the edit to best effect at the beginning of one of his stories.
Watch and name your video clips
Plan how you will edit your story
Do a compilation of the basic shots and sound
Then add your add extra visuals
Add other sound, commentary, titles and music
