VICTORIA BATHS - PHASE ONE
By Neil Bonner and Alison Kirshaw
The public voted Manchester's Victoria Baths the winners of the first series of BBC Restoration in 2003. It's taken time to restore the grand Edwardian building to its former glory, but the first stage of the renovation work is now finished and the famous clock tower is chiming out over the Manchester skyline once more. Neil Bonner and Alison Kershaw from the Victoria Baths Trust have been keeping a video diary of the restoration work for Video Nation. They show us around the Baths and the huge amount of work that's gone on over the past two years to restore the roofs, mosaic flooring, beautiful stained glass windows and detailed terracotta work. Victoria Baths’ restoration is continuing over the next couple of years.
