I totally understand what you are going through. Having moved to Canada from Britain I am constantly asked where am I from twice over within a conversation because they think I couldn't be British because I am black!! "Born and bred there" is my usual response "Iwasn't born anywhere else,just England". It appears to me the world stereotypes people no matter where you choose to emigrate to and from you just have to chuckle at there ignorance and make the most of your chosen new life.
