Walter is a war veteran just like his father before him. But he feels that today’s veterans are a lot better taken care of then in his parent’s generation.

When Walter had to retire from the army because of his health he was offered a job working with other war veterans in a poppy factory in Edinburgh. Both Walter’s father and father-in-law fought in World War One and he still remembers how it affected them. He feels that some people can’t really comprehend how traumatic the Great War was.
