PENANCE

Winnie, several of her daughters and her disabled grandson Christy are on a pilgrimage at the shrine of Fatima in Portugal. They join in the prayers and do one of the penances. This involves walking on their knees all the way to the church - about half a mile - with Christy's mother carrying him on her back.
