MOTORWAY
By Richard Bennett
Richard, a former railway engineer, stands on a pedestrian bridge over the M1, recently expanded to six lanes. He is angry at the noise and pollution it brings, and thinks the government's transport policy is disgusting. Why is so much money being spent on carving expensive roads through the countryside while the rail links alongside lie idle?
