LUCKY
By Gerard McDermott
Gerard lives in a co-operative in an all gay house - plus some cats and a few garden gnomes. He likes it there because his housemates understand what it's like to live as a gay person in a heterosexual world. For example, he doesn't mind seeing straight couples kissing in public, but he wouldn't be able to that without getting his head bashed in. It's nice to come to home to people who understand.

Your thoughts about this video

Ross
This is so true. I always feel that when I see straight people kiss, even just friends, a kind of jealousy that I wouldn't beable to do that if I was kissing my gay friends. Things are changing though. My straight male friends even kiss me on the cheek sometimes without any hang-ups at all. However in the wider world, this is not the case. If you hold your partners hand in public, you risk your own safety. Should things really be like this?

David
I understand what you feel. That gets to me too when I see two people kissing. Even now in New York there is some freedom I will never know, although I know most of what stops me and others is in your mind, there is a reality out there that is straight and you can't always ignore it.
