LADY-DAYS

Isobel's cat basks in the early morning sunshine. There's a saying in Foula that the world is unfairly divided, and she was getting fed up with their share of miserable weather. But it only takes a few fine days to lift the spirits. There's a glorious pink sky, reflected in the sea. It's also what people on Foula call a lady-day - one of those nice quiet days when the winter weather lifts enough to let you get on with some outdoor tasks. There are supposed to be three in January, six in February and nine in March.
