Ian Fletcher I was seventeen yrs old in 1977 and looking back it seemed even then that the occasion went by without much notice. Of course, I am talking of this area being central Lancashire and can't speak for other parts of the country. None of my friends or myself received any momento of the occasion and I saw no street parties at all. Sometimes it feels as if these events only take place on the television. I don't expect the 50 yr mark as being any different.
