GRATEFUL
By Charles Spencer
It is almost 60 years since Charles left his parents and his homeland, Austria. He came to England as a Jewish refugee during the Second World War at 14, and was seen off by his mother who he never saw again. He doesn't know how things would have worked out if England had not opened its borders to them. He feels grateful.

Your thoughts about this video

Sean Flanagan
I am a quarter Jewish, and feel that Charles has earnt any breaks he has been given. Unfortunately there are many refugees who have suffered persecution but can't prove their case of the overly stringent system in this country.

David Clarke
No so called little Englander begrudges Charles his life in England - he deserves it. However in his day there was an over generous benefit system. He had to work to earn his citizenship. Britain is targeted because, compared to our European compatriots, especially France and Germany, our benefit systems is a dream. We have enough problems of our own without having to subsidise every desparado in the world.
