GLASGOW MOTORWAY By Barry Shelby Barry is Californian and has lived in Glasgow for five years. He often takes his dogs for walks by the River Clyde. This might have to end if the proposal to build a 250 million pound motorway into the city centre goes ahead. Barry is part of a Grassroots group to try and preserve this peaceful area. Where he comes from, they used to build more and more motorways - but the traffic only got worse. He thinks people need to be encouraged to use cars less and that we should make the existing network better and invest instead in public transport.
John McKenna Good thoughtful piece... it must be time to consider alternatives and what could be done to promote those, especially with 250 million pounds!
