Denise is about to join a protest against the closure of her local hospital in Edgeware. She isn't a political person normally, this is the first demonstration she has been on, but she feels very passionately about this. Edgeware is the hospital where she was born and lives will be lost if people have to go further to hospital, and there won't be enough beds for them when they get there.
