DROUGHT By Deonarine Debidin Guyana is in the middle of a severe drought due to the El Nino weather system and rice farmer Deonarine is looking out at parched paddy fields. Even his kitchen vegetable garden has dried out. He worries that even if the rain does return times have been so bad that he no longer has the money to buy new seed and fertilizer.
