COAT

Dorothy comes across a pre-war photograph of herself and remembers the coat she was wearing in the picture, together with all the matching accessories - hat, shoes, gloves. Fine stockings were her one extravagance, but in those days of shortages and rationings she used to mend them. Even today she wears mended garments - she doesn't belong to the throwaway society.
