ARREST By Toni Bennett Toni Bennett was told recently that she would need a special visa to enter America as she still held a criminal record due to a conviction she received in 1984, when she was arrested on the picket line at Markham pit. Already a person with strong political views and an active trade unionist before the strike, Toni was a key figure in the local Labour Party Women's Aid group during the strikes. She's now a councillor for Bolsover and has been keenly involved in the ongoing struggle to regenerate the area. She holds Dennis Skinner in high regard for his part in getting Junction 29a of the M1 built to allow access to the Markham Vale and points out that he gave his earnings to the strikers during the strike.
