Your thoughts about this video
Deirdre Henderson I am really pleased to see a balanced and mature take on veganism. Often, it is only associated with people on the edges of society or with eating disorders. I have seen folk claim they are vegan when really they have an eating disorder and use it as a way of refusing food. This gives genuine vegans a bad press. I am also a vegan. I chose to become vegetarian aged eight and the logical step was to become vegan at sixteen. Now I am thirty two and don't even think about being a vegan - except when visiting people unfamiliar with my diet. My husband of fourteen years eats anything and everything but we happily co-habit, and our five year old daughter is vegetarian. Relationships are all about tolerance and compromise. Like the woman in the clip my Mum would like to be vegan, and she feels really guilty when she eats meat in front of me because her heart says no but her stomach says yes to meat. I always say that it is a personal choice to eat or not eat meat / dairy. I don't think that ramming your own philosophy down someone's throat is very helpful. Good on you and 'Slainte mhath' (good health)
