Alison has just finished watching the news but the continuous talk about possible war with Iraq has started to wash over her. Although she cares about the threat of conflict, she feels that it all seems very distant and there is nothing she can do about it as an individual. Some of her work colleagues went on the anti-war march in London, but the main subject of conversation in the office is more likely to be about what they're having for tea that evening.
