I found it funny to see how Tarquin's opinion on the service changed within the space of five minutes. The way he was looking forward to the more relaxed ceremony and referred to the registrar as just a piece of paper made me think he was hiding his nerves, which he did admit to having in the end. I thought it was funny how the 'laid back' hippy was so against the legal marriage that would somehow link him to the 'establishment' in some way, and was more excited about the wedding where they would have fun. In the second wedding they would have no other legal ties, only to not drink over the legal limit if they were driving home! He seems to think that the reason for getting married is for love, which explains why he was putting more emphasis on the second wedding as the 'proper' one, a day to spend with family and friends. He was less nervous about the second one because there would have been no reason to be nervous; he had already been married a week. Just an excuse for a party!
