For all parents, having a little one has its challenges. But sometimes there are specific challenges that parents of a child with complex needs or a disability face. Because of their needs, they may learn more slowly, look different, or behave differently to other children. Or if they have a disability that you can’t see, like autism, you may feel others judge you and your child’s behaviour and you might feel you need to explain. As a parent, you know your child best and you’re the best person to decide if and how you discuss their disability with others. Some people prefer to talk openly about the problems they face and others don’t… Either way it’s fine –it’s your choice.
