Memuna
This is a challenge.
Ruth
Did you try?
Raoul
The answer is yes. Yeah I’ve tried it.
Dilan
Adults can of course drink breast milk, but whether you should…
Memuna
I haven’t tried anybody else’s, I’ve tried my own.
Raoul
From a dad’s perspective, I know how amazing breast milk can be, uhm, so from what I understand, you can probably help me with this. But from what I understand as the baby changes, and like for example gets a cold, the breast milk changes to kind of provide the antibodies to, to kind of help the baby to fight colds and stuff.
Memuna
It’s always antibodies, always in the breast milk.
Dilan
The bodies particularly useful for that and I think maybe one thing to be mindful of is that while adults may be interested in trying your breast milk, the milk is for the baby. It’s probably best that the baby is definitely getting enough first.
Raoul
As parents, you can feel free to try your own breast milk. It’s safe, it is safe.
Dilan
It’s all part of bonding, I guess.
Memuna
But it is safe for you to try and I think even with partners sometimes they wonder what the baby is having. 'Let’s just see what it is on a little spoon' but again, on a serious note it’s for the baby so it’s not a substitute to say mum’s producing milk for the whole household, as such. For the muscle builders out there.
Dilan
It’s like my Weetabix in the morning. 'Mum!'
Memuna
From the shower, standing, get all there…
When babies seem to enjoy it so much, it's natural to be curious about what breast milk tastes like.
And while it's fine to sample your own, our panel want to remind anyone interested that it's definitely best left to baby.
