Looking for a chocolate-free advent calendar alternative?
Early years specialist Sophie David has made some simple but effective paper Christmas countdowns you can make with your little one.
Welcome to the Christmas series.
Today we are making a very simple Christmas countdown.
It's a paper chain idea, so just scraps of paper looped thourh to make a chain. You add 24 loops and the children cut away a loop each day.
It stops them asking that question, "how many days until Christmas?" But also it's a chocolate-free advent calendar idea!
Here's one I made earlier.
All you need is a Christmassy topper like a snowman or elf, and 24 pieces of scrap paper. Add 24 loops of paper and stick them together, and your Christmas countdown is complete.
Each day starting on December 1st, your children can cut away one loop, and they'll be able to see how many days to go until Christmas!
"It stops them asking that question, "how many days until Christmas!?" - Sophie
