In time, Christianity took over and influenced the celebrations. Throughout history, Carnival has been subtly changing and modifying as it was integrated into different cultures and taken to different countries. | | |
| | Preparations are underway building the costumes for this year's Luton carnival. Organisers and volunteers have spent much of their time at the Starlight Youth Club in Luton, where the lavish outfits are being created. | | Making the drums. |
Organisers encountered a few problems to begin with, but details have been altered and the show is definitely on the road. Volunteers of all ages assembled at Roots camp to start cutting, sticking and embellishing parts of the attire. The group are making replica steel drums to be attached to the front of the costumes. The BBC Three Counties Radio float will host a live steel band. | | Making the costumes. |
The chosen design features the BBC Three Counties Radio colour scheme and each costume has five bold plumes attached to the wearers back.
