For the punters who are used to the usual gags and punchlines of stand up, then Ross Noble's unique style takes a bit of getting used to. Although it may appear that he is just rambling, it's obviously a very clever act, as he never loses track of the original point. Staring off telling a story about mad people in High Wycombe, he goes off on a tangent that includes monkeys on bicycles, navy boys posing for photos, the Middleton shopping centre, and wheelchair basketball players, before getting back to his original point just in time for the interval. Getting the audience on side is no problem, as his material is cracking, he's obviously researched the area before playing tonight and he passes the test every great comic has to : taking on unrehearsed subjects like audience member Colin, a curmudgeonly joiner who is worked into jokes throughout the show. The best bits of the show are the most unpolitically correct ones, involving said wheelchair basketball players, Stephen Hawking and his auntie with a boss eye. Seeing a very mixed audience crying with laughter at him leaping around doing Hare Krishna dancing confirms that no matter who you are, Ross Noble can find something to tickle you with, which is a very great talent indeed.
