Ella and Harry learn how their grandmother Ruby and her brother Billy were evacuated to the countryside during WW2.
2: Life in the country
Synopsis
Ella and Harry continue to bring to life their great-grandmother's diary from 1941. The children have been evacuated and the train brings them to a country village, where the process of finding homes for the evacuees begins.
The children are chosen by Mrs Bigglestone, who lives on a farm. The children have no prior experience of living on a farm and the animals are a cause of anxiety to them.
The children's mother makes a rare visit to see them at the farm. But when she fails to arrive for her next scheduled visit Billy becomes convinced she has been hurt in an air raid. He determines to run away home and find out what has happened to his mother.
