PRESENTER: Listen, what can you hear?
FX: A WINDY DAY
CHILDREN: The wind. A windy day!
PRESENTER: The wind. Is the wind an inside sound, or an outside sound? What do you think?
CHILDREN: Outside. The wind is an outside sound.
PRESENTER: Listen, what can you hear?
FX: SCHOOL CLASSROOM
CHILDREN: Children…a school class…a classroom!
PRESENTER: Children in a classroom. Is that an inside sound, or an outside sound? What do you think?
CHILDREN: Inside. It’s an inside sound!
PRESENTER: Listen to some more sounds. Be ready to say which sounds are inside and which sounds are outside.
FX: BUSY TRAFFIC ON ROAD
CHILDREN: Outside!
PRESENTER: Listen again -
FX: SEA
CHILDREN: Outside!
PRESENTER: Listen again -
FX: WASHING MACHINE
CHILDREN: Inside!
PRESENTER: Listen -
FX: BIRD SONG
CHILDREN: Outside!
PRESENTER: Listen -
FX: SHOPPING IN A SUPERMARKET
CHILDREN: Inside!
PRESENTER: Inside sounds and outside sounds. We heard these outside sounds:
FX: WIND
PRESENTER: The wind.
FX: TRAFFIC
PRESENTER: A busy road.
FX: THE SEA
PRESENTER: The sea.
FX: BIRD SONG
PRESENTER: Birds. And we heard these inside sounds:
FX: CLASSROOM
PRESENTER: Children in a classroom.
FX: WASHING MACHINE
PRESENTER: A washing machine.
FX: SUPERMARKET
PRESENTER: A big shop - a supermarket. There are sounds all around us - inside and out!
MUSIC: LINK
PRESENTER: Listen to some of those inside and outside sounds again. This time I’m going to jumble them up like this.
FX: MONTAGE: SEA / WASHING MACHINE / WIND
PRESENTER: Can you remember the order of the sounds? Which is first, which is second and which is last? Listen again.
FX: MONTAGE: SEA / WASHING MACHINE / WIND
PRESENTER: Say now what order the sounds are in.
MUSIC: PAUSE POINT
CHILDREN: The sea. A washing machine. The wind.
PRESENTER: Let’s do that again, can you remember the order?
FX: MONTAGE: CHILDREN / BIRDS / TRAFFIC / SUPERMARKET
PRESENTER: Say now what order the sounds are in.
MUSIC: PAUSE POINT
CHILDREN: A school class…then birds…then a road…and then the supermarket.
PRESENTER: Sounds following sounds. Sounds all around. Keep listening!

PRESENTER: Listen. What can you hear? What pictures do you see in your mind when you listen to these sounds?
FX: BLUSTERY WIND / DRAGON WINGS / BREATHING FIRE / DANK CAVE
CHILDREN: I think of a dragon…flying through the air…and landing on its treasure.
PRESENTER: Sounds can make us think of stories. Listen again. Can you imagine the dragon flying through the air and landing on her pile of treasure, then breathing fire! Listen!

PRESENTER: The dragon has something very special with her. Listen, can you imagine what it is…
FX: EGG BREAKING / CRY OF BABY DRAGON
CHILDREN: It’s a baby dragon!
PRESENTER: It’s her baby dragon coming out of its egg! Let’s finish the story together. Soon the day comes when the baby dragon is ready to fly from the mountain for the first time. What will happen? Listen to the sounds…and then say how the story ends…
