SABRINA:
Wake up sleepy heads get the rhythm awake
We're late for the party now
Don't ease up on the brakes
What time is it … what?
How long’s it gonna take…. don't know
That don't bother me none
Just give me my mojo
I know what date it is
I know the time of year
But that won't help me show up
When my friends are here
What time is it … what?
How long’s it gonna take I don't know…
Let’s get a wriggle on
Have I made myself clear
Time ain’t nuthin
if you don't know when you are
Watch out … get your watch out… yo!
Put your hands up in the air
Wave them round like you don't care
Lots of people everywhere
It's a moment we can share woooo
If you feelin all alone
Don’t just hang around at home
Put your hands up to the sky
And the time will fly
woooo
It only takes a minute
To make a slice of toast
But it only takes one second
To scream at a ghost
SCREAM
What time is it - I don't know
How long’s it gonna take - I don’t know
Read the clock don't ever stop
It’s what I like the most
Keep your eye on the short hand
You'll always know the hour
The long hand keeps the minutes so you never lose the power
What time is it - it's time to rock
How long’s it gonna take - it's time to roll
Keep yourself moving every minute every hour
Time ain’t nuthin if you don't know where you are
Watch out get your watch out yo
Put your hands up in the air
Wave them round like you don't care
Lots of people everywhere
It's a moment we can share
If you’re feelin all alone
Don’t just hang around at home
Put your hands up to the sky
And the time will fly
woooo
1 watch out - get your watch out yo
2 watch out - get your watch out yo
3 watch out - get your watch out yo
4 5 6 watch out - get your watch out yo
7 watch out - get your watch out yo
8 9 10 11
12 watch out get your watch out yo
Put your hands up in the air
Put your hands up in the air
Wave them round like you don't care
Wave them round like you don't care
Lots of people everywhere
Lots of people everywhere
It's a moment we can share
It's a moment we can share
If you’re feelin all alone
If you’re feelin all alone
Don’t just hang around at home
Don’t just hang around at home
Put your hands up to the sky
Put your hands up to the sky
And the time will fly
woooo oooo
Video summary
This clip brings together and revises much of the previous learning about time.
Sabrina and Tempo sing a lively song to recap.
Interspersed in the song are children telling us why they find measuring time useful, and telling jokes about time.
It recaps days, calendars and the hands of the clock.
From BBC series Round the Clock.
Teacher Notes
Key Stage 1:
Children could be asked to sing the days of the week.
Ask the children what they do on each day of the week.
Make individual weekly calendars asking children to draw or write what they will do on each day next week.
They could be asked to colour in the weekend days in a different colour.
Key Stage 2:
In groups, write down all the words they can think of related to time.
Ask children to see which words are related in some way. E.g. 60 seconds = one minute.
Can the children write time measuring words from the shortest to the longest?
Encourage children to research other measures of time intervals (e.g. decade, century, millennium).
This clip will be relevant for teaching Maths at KS1 and KS2 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and First and Second Level in Scotland.
