NATHAN: Christianity is the world's biggest religion. There are over two billion followers worldwide. We believe that God sent his son Jesus to save us all. Before Jesus came to Earth human beings had been doing sinful things which had separated them from God. Jesus was killed on a cross. Three days later he rose from the dead. By dying Jesus won a victory over sin and brought Christians closer to God. This is the basis of what I believe. It all happened in Jerusalem over 2000 years ago.
Lara is 13. She lives in Jerusalem.
Hi everybody.
NATHAN: She's a Catholic Christian.
For me being a Christian is really important and it's part of my identity.
NATHAN: Lara loves reading and speaks lots of different languages.
LARA: Here on my bookshelf I have English Arabic French. I live in Jerusalem and it is also called the Holy Land. Many Christians come here to visit it and see the religious sites.
NATHAN: Lara and her mum are very lucky to live in Jerusalem as it's a very special place for Christians. Every year millions of people come to visit. I'd love to go one day.
LARA: I feel really lucky living here because not many people have the opportunity to come here and see the religious sites and where Jesus was when he was living. It is a really special place.
NATHAN: Jesus taught God's message but this angered some people who thought he was a liar and a troublemaker. He was sentenced to death. The night before he died Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.
LARA: It still feels like a special place to be. It was a really peaceful night when he prayed so he could feel God's presence and talk to him. And this is what I feel because it's a really peaceful place and a really quiet place too.
NATHAN: Jesus was killed on the cross. This is called crucifixion.
Right now we're at the Via Dolorosa and it is where Jesus held his cross and walked to the place where he was going to be crucified.
NATHAN: Via Dolorosa means 'way of sorrows'. It leads to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre where many Christians believe Jesus was crucified died and buried. Three days later it's where he rose from the dead.
LARA: It is an emotional place because we remember when Jesus was persecuted and suffered so we can be happy. And we also feel happy because we remember when Jesus rose from the dead and because if he didn't rise from the dead there wouldn't be such a thing called Christianity.

Teacher Notes
Ask pupils before they watch the clip to think about Nathan’s wish to go to Jerusalem one day.
While they are watching, they must choose four things that they think Nathan might do, places to visit and so on, if he was lucky enough to go to Jerusalem as a pilgrim.
When they have seen the clip, they can list the four places they would choose, say what Nathan might think about, remember or learn by going there, and suggest what Lara might tell him about the four places.
This topic will be relevant to teaching Religious Education at KS2 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and National 2 or 3 in Scotland.
