It's my bedtime now so I'm going to say goodnight and say my evening prayer.
NATHAN: Christians talk to God through prayer. In the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Dear God thank you for keeping me safe and giving men such a supportive family. Let us pray with confidence as our saviour has taught us.
NATHAN: The most popular prayer used by Christians is the Lord's Prayer. The Lord's Prayer is a prayer that Jesus taught his friends. They came to him one day and they just asked him 'How should we pray?' and he gave them some advice and he also give them some words to say. Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name.
NATHAN: It is used all around the world and has been translated into hundreds of different languages.
PRAYING IN FRENCH
The Lord's Prayer covers many of the key beliefs in Christianity. It asks God to guide us teaches us to forgive others and encourages us to think about heaven. I talk to God every day. I thank him for the good things in my life and ask him for advice when things aren't going so well. It is just like talking to a friend. I pray for like for my friends for guidance and protection. To help get through my exams. I usually pray before I go to sleep when I am in bed. I pray in my bedroom. It is quiet and it is really easy to concentrate. Sometimes my prayers do work. Often the things that we want God to do are not necessarily the things that God wants to do and part of our faith is that we trust that God's way is usually better than our way. When I pray for something and it doesn't come I tend to try and calm myself down and think that it will come eventually and that maybe it just wasn't the right time for it.
NATHAN: We don't have to pray alone or quietly.
THEY CHEER
Come on people shout praise!
In church we pray in like different ways. You can stay in your seat and pray or we will pray through the music that we sing as well.
Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah!

Teacher Notes
The background to the clip is that these children and young people feel they need to explain praying.
It is not universal in the UK for children to have any experience like this.
So they give us answers to questions like these: How does prayer feel? Are you sure that God listens to prayers? Does praying make a difference?
You could use these questions, or ask pupils to generate their own questions from the clip, and develop their answers on a piece of paper.
After a set time (10 minutes?) pass the page on to another group, to add more questions, details or suggested answers.
This topic will be relevant to teaching Religious Education at KS2 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and National 2 or 3 in Scotland.
