Drama KS3 / KS4: Exploring character types

We see a range of the different character types that feature in the musical I Know Me, and students are encouraged to describe the musical's different types of character.

The different character types are depicted on visually descriptive, on-screen picture cards.

We see a group of children getting into tableaux that represent different character types.

We see the group in an exercise in which they gradually transform from one character type into another.

Students are encouraged to try the exercise themselves, experimenting with creating tableaux representing different character types to support the development of their skills as performers.

Teacher Notes

The musical I Know Me was devised and written to provide young people with learning difficulties, and their teachers, an accessible but musically challenging production to stage as a school musical.
