Na na na na-na. Na na na na-na
If you're bored when getting dressed
Get dressed in French cos it's the best
Don't wear socks that pong of sweat
Be super cool in des chaussettes
If your shirt is full of fleas
You'll still feel good in une chemise
Rock up in un pantalon
And everyone will dance along
The French speak chic
Wear des chaussures on their feet
Put des lunettes on their nose
And des chaussettes on their toes
They dress to impress
With une chemise on their chest
Wear une jupe when it's hot
And un pull…
When it's not. Na na na na-na
Na na na na-na
Wearing shoes with no allure?
Then treat your feet to des chaussures
Wear a cap to warm la tête
But better still wear une casquette
Sunglasses are so passé
So check out des lunettes fumées
Un jean une jupe des bottes noires
Hey now your style is best by far
They speak très chic
Wear des chaussures on their feet
Put une casquette on their head
And un jean on their legs
They dress to impress
Wear une robe not a dress
Do some sport in un short
And des bottes…when they walk
Quelle est ta couleur préférée ?
Le jaune ? Le rouge ? Le marron ?
Le bleu ? Le vert ? L'orange ?
Le violet ?
And are you wearing it today?
They speak très chic
Wear des chaussures on their feet
Put une casquette on their head
And un jean on their legs
They dress to impress
Wear une robe not a dress
Do some sport in un short
And des bottes…when they walk
I dressed in un T-shirt today
Oh oui ! Ça va !
Il est parfait !
The French speak chic
Wear des chaussures on their feet
Put des lunettes on their nose
And des chaussettes on their toes
They dress to impress
With une chemise on their chest
Wear une jupe when it's hot
And un pull…when it's not.

The song also includes a range of colours as well as the adjectives long, petit, grand, court.
This clip is from the series Virtually There: France.
Teacher Notes
A good listening activity is to call out a sequence of colours. Pupils could build a tower of multi-link cubes to match the sequence.
Ask pupils to compose a colour song to a well-known tube eg Frère Jacques using only colour words for lyrics.
Talk about masculine and feminine in French language. Look at indefinite article ie un/une.
Match correct one for clothes mentioned in the song. Call out eg un. Pupils point to an article of their clothing which matches un eg un pantalon.
Practise asking and responding to the question Quelle est ta couleur préférée?
Carry out a class survey to find out pupils’ favourite colours. Have a fashion show where pupils describe outfits in French.
These clips could be used for teaching French at KS2 or at a beginner level in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and 1st and 2nd Level in Scotland.
