Could be used to demonstrate the processes used to make a one-off jewellery product from silver.
The class could create a production plan for a silver ring, identifying the tools used, how the material is changed by each process and explaining the role of the annealing.
They could also discuss alternative processes, such as casting.
Students could carry out research to identify other metals that are used to make jewellery products, and explain why these metals have been used for specific products (for example, cost, appearance, avoiding allergic reactions).
This clip will be relevant for teaching art and design at KS3 and GCSE in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and National 4 and 5 in Scotland.
