Oswald's Curious Dog by Jasper H.
In a cottage at the edge of a wood, lived a curious wizard in a cloak with a hood.Wearing dark, purple robes with silver crescent moons that floated along behind him from morning until noon.He liked mixing potions in his big, bubbly pot, and muttering magic spells which he did an awful lot.One day little Oswald was strolling through the trees, collecting potion-plants and honey from the bees. When suddenly he saw something very strange, that turned his day upside-down and caused his life to change. In the leaves ahead he saw something small and dark, when he scooped it up it made a sort-of bark.Without double-checking he thought it was a dog and took it to his cottage beside the fallen log.Oswald fed the beast giving it crunchy bones, it ate them up in one big bite and in a blink had grown.Oswald found another treat and gave it to the creature, 'He has no table manners!' he thought, 'I'll have to be his teacher'.By morning everything was gone, not a crumb left for a mouse, but while cupboards were being emptied, there was another change in this house.Oswald realised once the beast gobbled-it-all-up, that this was definitely no ordinary pup.It had grown a 10-foot tail, its neck was long as well, it had two enormous ears and its stomach started to swell. Its claws were like table legs, its head was big and square, its tongue was the colour of blueberries and its armpits were covered in hair.Oswald was surprised to find the kennel he built was ash, because his pet had breathed out fire and flattened it in a flash. He tried to take it for a walk so put it on a lead, but suddenly its wings appeared and took off at great speed.Oswald clung to the rope, his feet began to dangle, flying over trees and rivers the lead got in a tangle. They crashed down on the ground, Oswald started to wonder, if bringing this animal into his home had been a bit of a blunder.Oswald took him to the vet to see if they could help, but on arrival the frightened vet gave a little yelp.'That's a dragon!' screamed the vet rushing out the door, the dragon opened its mouth wide and let out a fearsome ROAR!'He'll need a new home!' shouted the vet, you can't keep a fire-breathing dragon as a pet.Oswald took the dragon home and had a careful think, 'I love this dragon' Oswald said 'I think I'll call him Blink'.Even though he's quite big, I want him all the same, okay, he isn't perfect but I've given him a name.So Oswald sat and gave his dragon an almighty hug, he looked around his messy house and gave a little shrug.Blink's head lay on Oswald's lap, but his body was outside, with his neck stretched out the window like a scaley waterslide.
