The Worst Day Ever! By Lucy R.

"It's like this, officer," sobbed Ben as he sat in prison. He started to remember the terrible things that had happened to him that hot morning.

Ben and his big sister Charlotte had gone to the park. They were excited because their mummy had given them some money for ice cream. There was a long queue at the ice cream van because lots of people wanted icy things to cool down. Ben and Charlotte had to wait a very long time till they got to the front.

"One strawberry cone and one chocolate cone, please," said Charlotte. But because they'd waited so long Ben was now desperate for the loo. He asked Charlotte if she'd hold his ice cream.

When he got to the park loos there was a very long queue so Ben had to wait a very long time till he found a spare one.

When Ben was finished he tried to flush the loo but it must have been broken because something very unexpected happened. When he pushed the button the water shot up and Ben got SOAKED! Ben was very sad. He had to take all his clothes off because there was only paper to dry things with and he didn't have a change of clothes.

Ben went up into town to find a clothes shop. It was a very long walk and Ben kept day dreaming about his ice cream. He joined a very long queue at the clothes shop and waited and waited in just his shoes and underwear. Lots of shoppers were staring at him. Some were laughing and pointing. Others looked very shocked.

When it was time to pay for his new clothes Ben tried to find his money but he didn't have his wallet because it was in his trouser pocket. Ben started to panic so he ran away, carrying the clothes he hadn't paid for. But then he was grabbed by a policeman who thought he was stealing!

"And I just want my ice cream," cried Ben as he finished telling his story to the policeman.

The policeman felt very sorry for Ben. He realised it was all a big mistake so he drove Ben back to the park in the police car and he also let Ben borrow one of his police uniforms that had shrunk in the wash. Ben was excited about finding Charlotte and eating his ice cream at long last.

And there she was, standing by the swings next to a great big ice creamy puddle.

"I'm sorry, Ben," said Charlotte, "but your ice cream has melted! And I'm so sorry, I can't buy you another one because the ice cream van has driven away!"

WAH WAH WAH! cried Ben.

This was actually the worst day ever!

"Don't worry," said the policeman. "There are lots of delicious ice cream sundaes in the police station café. Come with me and the three of us can eat ice cream together."

So they did.

THE END.
