The Superheroes Who Could Not Fly by Zoraiz R.

Ssssh, I have a secret.

Come closer…read on.

Ready?

I am a superhero.

I have straight, black hair and a short body. I look just like some of you-except for my eyes- they are brown, but sometimes they shine bright gold. It is just a golden flicker, and you may miss it if you are not looking closely, but this light is actually one of my magical powers. When my eyes glow and light up, they can help you, make you feel happy and hopeful. They can even make you healthy when you are sick, and take your pain and ouchies away. It really is a nice super power to have.

Also a little tiring. Whenever I see a problem,I must solve it. Whenever I see a sad person, I must make them feel better. Whenever I think of questions, I must find answers. What is quite AMAZING is that I can easily find, or spot, these answers in PATTERNS in any place. In the many lines of leaves clinging onto trees or in the shiny grains of sands on the beach. If I look at these things closely enough and think about it very, very hard, I can find the answers! And then I am so happy at finding answers, that I must MOVE! Sometimes I jump, HIGH into the air. Sometimes I dance. Sometimes I start fidgeting and twirling objects. With this movement, thick, pink puffs of smoke-which only other superheroes can see-leave my body and change the world for the better.

Both my grandparents, Granddad David and Grandmum Jane were superheroes, who looked like superheroes too! They had wings and they could fly and they used to wear superhero clothes too- you know, long, red capes.

One day, while they were flying around doing good, or just resting and minding their own business, I am not sure, there was a CRACK in the sky!!! It was a LOUD noise which scared them. In front of them were aliens, which had appeared and invaded Earth! These aliens were WEIRD and called Itoggs from the planet, "Intolerance." The silly Itoggs attacked my grandparents with their long claws with sharp fingernails which sadly, ripped my grandparents' capes and wings off! My grandparents fought back and WON against the Itoggs. But sadly, they could never fly again. With their capes and wings gone, they started looking just like…humans. Granddad found it very hard to ACCEPT this and sometimes used to keep flapping his hands up and down, to try and fly again-a habit he passed onto my dad. He was also upset at the whole experience and still doesn't like some loud noises- they make him jump!

So that is why, despite the super important work we do, we look just like humans! It would be tricky to spot but I hope there are more of us out there. There is so much to do, I could share the work, you know?
