Directors Alan Lyddiard and Mark Murphy have teamed up to bring Orwell's nightmare novel back to its original terrifying glory.
They have taken Orwell's vision of a merciless, totalitarian society, monitored by the all-seeing, all-knowing Big Brother and spiked it with adrenaline to satisfy our surveillance-hungry 24/7 dot com generation.
The directors say that: "In this production, it has been our intention to create a powerful young vibrant piece that pulls no punches."
The production is packed with startling film and video sequences and features an unforgettable soundscape drawn from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.
The lead role of Winston Smith is played by actor Craig Conway, who left the National Theatre and returned to Northern Stage to become Orwell's tragic rebel.
This production contains violence and is recommended for ages 15+.
