Last year a sell out crowd of almost 300 people attended our first gig, also at the St Nicholas Centre, to watch Rosalita, Cheeky Cheeky and the Nosebleeds, James Severy and Vanilla Kick. We return to the former church to showcase four acts who have emerged in the past 12 months - making waves on both the local and national scenes. Underline the Sky have quickly become one of the most popular bands in Ipswich, one of few who can regularly fill venues such as The Swan or The Steamboat. Their blend of pop punk and energetic live shows earned them a place on the V Festival 2009 bill, a result of success in the Road to V competition. ![]() DELS and Joe Goddard from Hot Chip Ipswich rapper Kieren Dickins will be making his first appearance in his hometown under the pseudonym DELS. Since moving away from Ipswich DELS has worked with Hot Chip and Micachu, and released a single on Moshi Moshi. For Thee Vicars the BBC Suffolk Introducing... gig will be a farewell to the county until at least Christmas. ![]() Thee Vicars The garage rock band from Bury St Edmunds head off on an extensive tour of Europe, the US and Canada from October - aged touring van willing. Thee Vicars did Suffolk proud earlier in the year by headlining the BBC Introducing... stage at the BBC Radio One's Big Weekend in Swindon. Opening the night will be another band to be picked up by our national BBC Introducing... colleagues, Essay Like Nephew. The band, who partly hail from the Saxmundham area, were picked to perform at Glastonbury after a nomination from BBC Suffolk. ![]() Essay Like Nephew at Glastonbury TicketsTickets for the gig are on sale from the Ipswich Tourist Office, near the Buttermarket. They cost £5 each and are for over 16s only. Phone bookings can be made on 01473 258 070. You can also buy tickets online: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites We have a strict capacity, and as last year's gig sold out ahead of the event we advise buying early to avoid disappointment. BBC Suffolk Introducing... on airThe gig will also be heralding the arrival of a brand new weekly BBC Suffolk Introducing... radio show, which begins on 1 October. Graeme Mac and myself will be presenting a brand new show dedicated to supporting the unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar music in Suffolk. We want you to play an integral part in the sound of the show, so please get in touch to let us know about your new favourite band, a gig that's excited you, or if you just want to comment on the music we've been playing.
And if you're in a band or making music, use the BBC Uploader to submit your music. We'll do our best to get it on air and you'll also be considered for future opportunities with BBC Introducing, such as a place on bill for festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds and T in the Park. Or, like Rosalita, Lettie, James Severy and Pixelh8, we could help send you to record a session at the world famous Maida Vale Studios. We'll also be inviting bands in to the studio to perform a live session for us as part of the show. So tune in and be part of it.
