Some of the Suffolk Action team

Suffolk Action

The award-winning CSV Action Desk has been giving daily support to BBC Radio Suffolk since the partnership began in 1995. The action desk is part of the national charity Community Service Volunteers.

The Action Desk's motto is "helping you to help yourself to enhance your quality of life."

"No two calls are the same! No two days are the same! We always expect the unexpected!"

Karen Hare, Action Desk Producer

We receive over 10,000 calls a year covering many subjects and problems that you need help with.

We have covered an enormous number of appeals and raised awareness of charities, support groups, play schemes, organisations, learning and volunteering opportunities and health & social issues.

This includes helping Bildestone repair its burnt out Scallywags nursery, building a playground at Landseer Park in Ipswich, collecting pencil cases for a school in Gambia and helping find lost cats and dogs. We also held a funeral fayre to give advice on planning for your own death!

The Action Desk won a BBC Local Radio Gillard Award in 2003 for its work at The Hollies - the training centre for people at St.Clements Hospital in Ipswich.
