Leek Soup
Nibblers by pupils from Westwood Road First School
We are the nibblers, the gobblers, the secret munchers.
What’s going on?

- my sister, eating pop-tarts on the way to school, scrumpling them into her mouth.

- chocolate chip cookie in the small top cupboard.
Get a chair. Climb up. Stuff it in my mouth … Crumbs!

- Bread. Butter it, wrap it round roast chicken.

- Pancakes. Rough, spotty, thin, floppy. Sugar, like snow.

- Starving! Sizzling chips. Burning hot. Too hot to eat.
Starving…

- ‘One pound fifty,’ says Mum. ‘Go and buy something for Andrew.’
- He’s my brother. I’m hungry. So I buy three jam doughnuts.
- Naughty Jessica! Naughty doughnuts!

- Chocolate chip cookies, munching them down,
Crumbs all over the sofa.

- When you’ve been swimming, You can’t dry your tongue.
Food tastes wet, when you eat it.

- Through the door,
Down the path,
Summer’s day,
Warm grass,
Sit down –
Thick ham sandwich.
