Years and years in the desert,
Growing food.
Used to the heat,
Used to the slaving, toiling labour. Hard, scouring-pad hands;
Calloused feet, treading dusty ground
Day after day,
Hour after hour. In an oasis?
In a field? Do they have schools?
Do the pupils grow educational tomatoes
For the purpose of learning? Do they have the choice? Do they argue about Global Warming?
Is their life a big puzzle? Its a giant equation.
Food
They grow it,
We eat it. Helena, Alex, Genevieve, Kirsty, Ruth, Katie, Molly, Darren, Matthew, Philip, Arthur, Steve, Martin.
